9 Essentials For Prayer Answers

There are certain principles to apply when praying in order to get answers. Sometimes, people pray for a long time without getting what they’re asking for- not that God doesn’t want to hear, but the delayed answers, is as a result of the nature of their prayers. In this post, I’ve come up with some essential principles that can be applied when praying in order to get speedy answers. They are:
PRAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS: Although, the mistake of not praying in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ isn’t common, yet, you can’t just rule out the possibility of some individuals and churches making the mistake of not praying in the name. Jesus speaking in the scriptures said, ‘…whatsoever ye shall ask the father in my name, He will give it you'[John 16:23]. Our Lord Jesus Christ never mentioned any other name for us to make request with and as such, His prescription should be followed.

PRAY FOR OTHERS: Doing this shows that you love others and that you also care for the progress of God’s kingdom. Remember what your reward would be when you seek first God’s kingdom. Apostle Paul also said, ‘… pray for us that the word of the Lord may have a free course and be glorified even as it is with you. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men…the Lord is faithful who stablish you and keep you from evil’[2 Thessalonians 3:1-3]. When you pray for others, God automatically blesses you because He is faithful.

ALWAYS PRAY UNTO GOD: God doesn’t like hearing the prayers of a hypocrite. Whenever you pray, focus on Him and not on man. Your prayers shouldn’t be to get attention or for show off. Jesus commanded, ‘…when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou hast shut the door, pray unto thy father which is in secret and thy father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly'[Matthew 6:5-6]

AVOID VAIN REPITION: One thing you must note here, is that long prayers do not guarantee speedy answers. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, ‘…when thou pray use not vain repitions as the heathen do for they think they would be heard by much speaking'[Matthew 6:7]

KEEP’S GOD’S COMMANDMENT: Keeping God’s commandments is a must for everyone who expects God to answer their prayers as none of you would be willing to give freely to anyone who is disobedient to your own will. The scriptures saith, ‘…whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him for we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight’[1 John 3:22].

HAVE FAITH: It’s of no use asking for something you don’t believe you can receive. Without faith, it’s impossible to please God. The scriptures saith, ‘And all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer believing, ye shall receive'[Matthew 21:22]

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING: Our Lord Jesus Christ gave an illustration while preaching the gospel. He spoke about a friend who went to ask another friend for bread while the friend had already fallen asleep at night. He concluded that ‘…though he{the sleeping friend} will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as many as he needeth[Luke 11:5-8]. When praying for something, perseverance is a key factor that can boost your chances of getting your answers speedily.

SACRIFICE: By sacrifice, I don’t mean killing a big ram or something else other than giving the Lord something that would cost you something. Just as the widow gave to God. Sacrifice is not all about money as you can sacrifice your time to God in order to get your payers answered.

VOWING TO GOD: This is another good way of provoking prayer answers. A vow is a promise made to God asking Him to do something for you at the time of need and also stating clearly what you would do in return when your situation changes. The worst you can do to yourself, is to defer from paying your vows because God cannot be mocked.

I hope these principles would help you in your prayer life. Please if you have any other principle, please add via the comment box. God bless you.
